Wireless communication and networking technologies have significantly advanced over the past decades, due to a continuously increasing demand for wireless communication services. Various technical solutions have been developed to meet the requirements for providing multimedia communications and information services to a large population of mobile users. In this context, this presentation will identify new applications of wireless communication networks, discuss new technical challenges in research, and present some preliminary research results.
讲座人简介:
Weihua Zhuang has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada, since 1993, where she is a Professor and a Tier I Canada Research Chair in Wireless Communication Networks. Her current research focuses on resource allocation and quality-of-service provisioning in wireless networks. Dr. Zhuang is the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), and an IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer. 庄卫华，1985年2月毕业于大连海运学院研究生部船舶无线电导航技术专业，分配到集美航海专科学校任教。1986年12月晋任讲师。1990年赴加拿大UniversityofNewBrunswick大学留学，1993年获博士学位。同年10月开始在加拿大滑铁卢大学工作，从事大学本科和研究生教学工作和无线电移动通信领域的科研工作。庄卫华教授1997年7月成为滑铁卢大学终身教授。2002年7月成为滑铁卢大学正教授。她同时也是加拿大无线通信网络领域首席科学家，2008年获选IEEE院士和IEEE通信学会杰出讲师，2011年当选加拿大工程院院士（CAE）。庄教授也是著名期刊《IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology》的主编，主要研究方向：无线通信、无线网络、无线电定位。
